Biography

Dr Binod Shrestha is currently a Tunnel SME at the Asset Management Branch of Transport for NSW. He holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Technology, Sydney and is currently a Chartered Engineer and Fellow member of Engineers Australia. Dr Shrestha has twenty-three years professional experience in the fields of tunnel engineering, geotechnical engineering design and construction across road infrastructures and residential/commercial building foundations, both in Australia and overseas. Before joining AMB tunnels team, he had been working in legacy RMS since 2012 in the Geotechnical Engineering Unit. His recent work has included development of the Dangerous Goods Standard for the risk assessment for the transportation through tunnels, an update of the exiting ESC 340 Tunnels Standard, expert review for concessions and conduct of TAO assessment. Dr Shrestha wants to build a challenging career in tunnel/geotech engineering by translating his experience, knowledge, skills and abilities into value for the community. Bio – Diana Zagora Diana is a skilled asset management professional with tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering and Urban Planning, with over twenty years’ experience in civil engineering, transport infrastructure planning and strategy, asset management, stakeholder engagement, urban design, sustainability, safety, program and project management. Diana is the Director Civil Engineering Infrastructure in the Asset Management Branch at Transport for NSW, leading a team of engineers in the areas of bridges and structures, tunnels and geotechnical, concrete and steelwork, to develop and manage engineering standards relating to civil infrastructure assets across Transport for NSW. Diana was instrumental in the development of the publically released NSW Freight and Ports Plan, a supporting plan to Future Transport 2056. Diana was a finalist in the 2018 NSW Transport Woman of the Year - Road Freight NSW and is a Chartered Engineer, Engineers Australia Sydney Committee Member and Roads Australia Fellow.
