Robust Optical Fibre Sensors for Harsh Wastewater Environments

Biography

Dr Martin Ams received a Ph.D. degree in optical laser physics from Macquarie University, NSW, Australia, in 2008. Since then he has worked as a Research Fellow at City University London and at Macquarie University, and is currently managing multiple asset management projects within the commonwealth funded Cooperative Research Centre, SmartCrete CRC. His research interests include the laser fabrication of optical devices for use in sensing, asset management, telecommunication, astronomy, quantum information, and biophotonic applications. He is currently collaborating with a number of Australian Water Utilities deploying optical fibre sensors to detect concrete corrosion and environmental conditions in harsh wastewater environments. He has over 19 years of photonics experience, is the author or co-author of 4 book chapters, 44 journal articles and 121 conference papers.
