Biography

Hugh is the South Australian lead for Engineering and Asset Management (E&AM) within KPMG's Infrastructure Assets & Places (IAP) Division, and the Defence & Defence Industry (D&DI) Sector Lead for the Asset Intelligence Capability. He is an experienced Director within D&DI, asset intensive industries, and Space sectors with over 15 years of experience. He has a proven record of partnering with clients strategically to help them on their journey of asset management maturity through data enablement and digital transformation. The teams he leads combine domain knowledge of asset intensive industries with engineering problem solving, programming, data analytics, data visualisation, machine learning and statistics, modelling and simulation, and database engineering skills to help clients make better decisions. Michael is a Senior Consultant within KPMG's Engineering and Asset Management team. Leveraging the broad technical skill base developed in academia, Michael applies analytical and data-driven tools to tackle industry challenges. Michael’s skills are grounded in applied mathematical modelling, statistics and data analytics, and he has supported clients undertaking digital transformations in their asset management functions, with a focus on threat-based operational analysis and Activity Based Planning. He is passionate about helping asset-intensive organisations use data to drive more effective decision-making at strategic, operational and tactical levels
